RFLP can be observed by cleaving the DNA into fragments with restriction enzymes. The length of the restriction fragments is altered if the genetic variant alters the DNA. It doesnot estimate DNA but detects variation in DNA structure. DNA is contained in chromosomes. RFLP also used to trace chromosomes from parents to offspring.
