Moron, Imbecile and Idiot are old terminology used in ICD-9 for description of Mental retardation. These have been changed to Mild, Moderate and Profound Mental retardation in ICD-10 respectively. Moron: IQ 50-70, Imbecile: IQ 35-49, Idiot: IQ <20. Imbecile/ Moderate MR: Communication skills develop more slowly an social isolation may ensue in elementary school years. Academic achievement is usually limited to middle elementary level. They have deficits in self care, but can be benefitted from focussed individual attention.
