Bulging anterior fontanel The fontanel is normally flat or slightly depressed relative to the frontal and parietal bones and is pulsatile. Bulging fontanel is a reliable sign of raised ICT during infancy. The pulsations may disappear when fontanel becomes tense due to marked elevation of ICT.
