Hepatitis A virus is resistant to inactivation by heat at 60 Deg C for 1 hour, ether and acid at pH 3. It is inactivated by boiling for one minute over 120 Deg C, 1:4000 formaldehyde at 37 deg C for 72 hours, and chlorine 1 ppm for 30 minutes. It is not affected by anionic detergents. It survives prolonged storage at temperature of 4 Deg C or below.
