Punctate cataract is the most common form of cataract and in minute degree is almost universal in occurrence. When the small opaque spots are multiple and scattered all over the lens they appear as tiny blue dots by oblique illumination with the slit lamp, then they are known as cataracta cerulea or BLUE DOT CATARACT. When these dots are crowded in the Y suture then it is known as sutural cataract or anterior axial embryonic cataract.
