Medullary Carcinoma Thyroid (MTC): Neuroendocrine carcinoma arising from parafollicular ‘C’ cells of thyroid. Parafollicular ‘C’ cells are derived from the ultimobranchial bodies and secrete calcitonin. ‘C’ Cells are concentrated superolaterally in thyroid lobes, from where MTC usually develops.
