Rivastigmine is used in Alzheimer's disease. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase and increases the level of ACh. Tricyclic antidepressants have strong anticholinergic actions. The anti-depressants that are used should have minimum anticholinergic activity, therefore SSRI or MAO-inhibitors are preferred.
