Cause of gustatory sweating in freys syndrome is due to the faulty regeneration of fibers after injury to the auriculotemporal nerves in which secretomotor fibers are connected to the sympathetic fibers inside it. Sometimes the secretomotor fibers are connected to the sympathetic fibers in the greater auricular nerve which result in sweating over the skin covering the parotid gland and the angle of the mandible during eating.
