Depression or anxiety state in puerperium Reluctance or apprehension to nursing. Poor development of nipples/retracted nipple. Painful breast lesion viz cracked nipple/ breast abscess. Endogenous suppression of prolactin. Prolactin inhibition (ergot preparation, diuretics, pyridoxine, bromocriptine).
